I was reading a commentary by Ann Coulter on the President's speech Monday. Needless to say Coulter was less than pleased with the path President Bush is plotting in relation to illegal aliens.

I like Ann Coulter for her Conservative wit, she is fun to read. Apparently Ann is very upset with President Bush alluding to his replacement in her biting humorous way. I agree with her that the President's plan to deal with illegal immigration does not benefit American citizens, rather it benefits illegal aliens. On the other hand, no matter how unpopular President Bush has become, it is his presence that has gotten things rolling on terrorism that I doubt any other politician would have had the back bone to step forward. Yes, the President has made mistakes, but this is new ground on protecting America. Going it alone has probably hampered the President on the choices available to execute this war. Calling for the replacement of President Bush is a sign of disrespect I do not wish to participate.

However on illegal immigration, the President needs a resounding challenge to implement a plan that is more in tune with American citizens. The call for a middle ground smacks of stroking illegal immigrants that are not citizens. As Coulter points out, there existence in America is an act of breaking the Law. Many of these illegal immigrants are paid under the table, which means employers and illegal immigrants are not paying taxes. Illegal immigrants receive humanitarian benefits at the expense of American taxpayers. In fact many illegal immigrants receive benefits that are withheld from tax payers that need the benefits as citizens of America.
